We feel the beat

My housemate and I discovered the monthly (during the summer) Beatwalk in Columbia City last night. A bunch of musicians come out and perform for the community in various businesses like a bookstore, kids' store (pirate wear encouraged), theater, restaurants and even the gym. It was nice out, so we were even able to walk there. It's nice to gradually feel a little bit more a part of the community by participating in things like this.

There was the Zydeco Locals ...
... in the Columbia City Theater .
There was Annette Taborn & Clyde Curley ...
... in a hair salon.
There was Michael Powers ...
... at a Caribbean restaurant.
There was Correro Aereo (Air Mail), my favorites of the night ...
There was a jazz quartet at the bookstore (I didn't get a picture of them), and Brazilian music at the Ethiopian restaurant:
They got a kid from the NW School of Music to play ... that's him on the far left. He was rocking out.

A great discovery. I can't wait until next month ... we'll have to go earlier so we can see more of everyone.
